Movie star Diane visits Harper’s Corners, which she’d left 3 years before after having an affair with a married man who died in an auto accident. Since she’s changed, the dead man’s brother Byron doesn’t recognise her; however, widow Marcia does. Diane and Byron fall in love, which upsets her representative Speed. Diane makes a public statement, indicating she thought her lover was divorced and she wasn’t driving the car. Byron stands by her, but Diane decides to marry Speed and return to Hollywood.
