Everything on your shelves, one scanner

Comics

Scan: The barcode on the back cover

Modern comics carry a UPC with a small 5 digit code beside it. Those five digits spell out the issue number, the cover and the printing, so a scan tells a first print from a reprint and cover A from cover B. Older books with no add-on? Scan the main code and type the issue number. Done.

Trading cards

Scan: The code printed on the card

Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Disney Lorcana and One Piece. Line the card up in the frame and the scanner reads the set code and collector number printed on it, then checks the card name to pick the exact printing. You choose the finish (holo, reverse holo, foil, 1st edition). We never guess it for you.

LEGO

Scan: The set number on the box

Point at the big number on the front or side of the box. The scanner reads it, matches the set, and double-checks against the piece count printed alongside. Sealed shelf, loose bricks with the box, a whole loft of them: every set goes in by number.

Manga

Scan: The ISBN barcode on the back

Scan any volume and you get the series and the volume number. Scan a run of volumes and they add to the series count you already have, so your shelf and your collection stay in step.

Funko Pop!

Scan: The barcode on the box

Funko does not publish its barcodes, so our collectors build the list together. The first person to scan a box picks the Pop once, and every collector after them gets a one-scan match.

Binder mode clears a page in a minute

Switch on binder mode and the scanner never stops: card, beep, next card. Each confident match buzzes and drops into your tray; anything that needs a second look waits for a single tap. Set the finish once for the whole page and change any card before you add. When the page is done, add all nine in one go, or send the lot to your wishlist.

Long boxes work the same way. Flip, scan, flip. The 5 digit add-on on modern comics tells us the issue, cover and printing, so a stack of variants sorts itself.

On your home screen in two taps

CollectionPlnr installs straight from the browser, no app store required. On Android, tap Install the app when we offer it. On iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens full screen, straight to your dashboard, and Scan sits one press away on the app icon.

Your camera images never leave your phone. The scanner reads the code on the device and sends only the code to find your match.

Scanning questions, answered

Do I need to download an app to scan?
No. The scanner runs in your phone's browser. Add CollectionPlnr to your home screen and it opens full screen like any other app, with Scan one tap away.
Does scanning work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Use Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android. The first time you scan, your browser asks for the camera; allow it once and you are set.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Barcodes and printed codes are read on your phone. Only the code itself is sent to find the match, never an image.
What happens when a scan matches more than one item?
Clear matches go straight into your scan tray. When two printings share a code, or a cover could be a variant, you get a short list with pictures and tap the right one.
Can I scan a whole binder page or a long box?
Yes. Turn on binder mode and the scanner keeps going: scan, beep, next. Everything lands in the tray, and one tap adds the lot to your collection or your wishlist.
Is scanning free?
Yes. Scanning is free and so is your collection, with no cap on items. Starter adds your collection's total value over time and Pro adds price alerts.
