About CollectionPlnr
CollectionPlnr is a tracker for people who collect more than one thing. It covers comics, Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh!, LEGO, manga and Funko Pops in one place, so a collection spread across several hobbies does not need a spreadsheet per hobby.
Who builds it
CollectionPlnr is built and run by Alexis Pratsides, Founder, who has been collecting for thirty years. It started in a small comic shop in Camden, went on through Forbidden Planet, and turned into the habit of finding the local comic shop in every city worth visiting - New York, Nashville, Boston, Chicago, Portland, Washington.
The collection leans heavily to DC, and heavily to Batman, but what usually decides a purchase is the artwork. There is room alongside the long runs for newer work like D'Ork, Exquisite Corpses and Escape.
More recently the whole family has gone into Pokemon - two sons now old enough to join in, Elite Trainer Boxes picked up on release day, and rare singles hunted down at fairs, conventions and car boot sales. The boys are obsessed with Funko Pops and are building their own individual collections across Star Wars, Marvel and sports. LEGO has come back into it too, now they have stopped breaking everything.
That is why this is not a comics-only tracker. A real collection rarely stays inside one category, and the tools for tracking one hobby almost never know about the next.
The comics now run into the thousands of issues, and that is where this product comes from. A collection that size will not fit in your head: what you own, which issues are missing from a run, and what any of it is worth. Having it properly valued one day is the goal, and the valuation work here exists because doing that by hand is genuinely hard.
CollectionPlnr is an independent product rather than a venture-backed one, which means the roadmap answers to the people paying for it.

Where the data comes from
The catalogue is not typed in by hand. Comic data is built from the Grand Comics Database, with additional detail from Metron and Comic Vine. Price signals come from completed sales rather than asking prices. Other hobbies draw on the established community databases for that category.
This matters for accuracy in both directions. Catalogue facts - issue counts, publication years, creator credits, set contents - are derived from those sources and regenerated as the sources are corrected, so they stay current without anyone retyping them. It also means an upstream gap can show up here, and a correction sent through the contact form gets fixed.
How it is funded
By subscriptions. There is a free tier, and paid tiers that unlock the larger collections and the valuation features - see Pricing. Some links out to retailers and marketplaces are affiliate links, which may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those links never change which items are shown, how they are ordered, or what a collection is valued at.
