Superboy catches the car of a robber as it careens off a bridge. But the driver, Joey King, is dead, and a note signed by gun runner Mr. X is found next to the body, telling of a telegram arriving from the Big Boss that same day. Clark pays Eddie the telegraph boy ten dollars to take his place for a day, so that he can compare the handwriting on the receipts.
