On the day that David gets his diploma for a medical degree, Brenda breaks the news that her father is ill and she must leave London to take care of him. David tells her he will follow her to the small village and take up practice there. While Brenda is waiting for David, the son of a tycoon who is used to getting what he wants because of his father's importance, spreads rumors about his relationship with her.
