Magneto calls Moira MacTaggert and asks for her help in evaluating his charges in the New Mutants and she agrees to come to the U.S. with Siryn and Madrox. In a fit of rage, Bobby hurts Sam very badly during a soccer game and gets very down on himself after they take his best friend to the hospital. Magneto and the kids return to find that Bobby has left an apologetic letter and run away. Warlock takes off to try and find him. Roaming the streets, Bobby meets the rough and tumble Chance and attempts to save her from a group of bullies but his powers blink off at the worst possible moment.
