Joan is a provincial girl living a simple existence with her family. There is an attachment growing between her and Lew, but the daughter of Lew's boss wants Lew for herself. She arranges to get Joan a job offer in London to separate her rival from Lew. Joan enjoys the city life and seems to forget about her family and friends back home.
