Kay overcomes a poverty-stricken childhood to become a gym teacher at a small town high school and is engaged to wealthy Rex. Kay’s sister Bettine arrives, intent on making money from Kay’s good fortune. Bettine dates Rex’s brother Lee and borrows cash from him. Rex’s ex-girlfriend Phyllis is suspicious of Kay’s background and offers Bettine $1000 for the truth; Bettine demands a monthly payment from Kay or she’ll ruin her romance with Rex by revealing her humble origins. Kay confesses everything and Rex says he still loves her.
