Steve graduates from college and returns to Marshville, convinced there is oil nearby. His fiancée June hates the town and wants them to move away, but when promoter Redmond gets the residents to invest in Steve’s project, she decides to stay. June falls in love with Redmond and breaks up with Steve. Redmond steals the investors' money but Steve presses on until he strikes oil. When an angry Redmond starts a fire at the well, Steve captures him and rescues June.
