The kids at camp are disappointed to discover that The Champ is fat and doesn't look athletic at all. He has a surprisingly good attitude about himself, despite the fact that he finishes last in everything he does. What upsets him is how all of the other kids feel sorry for themselves, because they're too lazy to train and practice for a place on the team. He goes out on a limb and states that with a little practice, he could beat all of them in each of their own specialties.
