Martha takes care of her siblings, spoiled Joan and young Bobby. Martha becomes friends with Harold, one of Joan's dates, and is embarrassed when Joan two-times Harold with Bill. Harold admits he prefers Martha. They are secretly married, because Martha wants to see if Joan will settle down. When she doesn't, Harold and Martha announce their marriage and their intention to move out, taking Bobby with them. Joan is shocked but eventually she grows up.
