Helen is fired when she turns down a marriage proposal from her boss Ronald. She falls in love with deliveryman Larry, the ex-boyfriend of her roommate Gertrude. Gertrude says she wants to move out of the slums, so she’ll only date wealthy men. Larry gets a promotion and marries Helen; they have a child and move to a nice house. Gertrude realises true love can pay off, and decides to date a poor man.
