Gilda returns home from college and meets an old acquaintance, “plain” nurse Laura, and Laura’s handsome fiancé, salesman Doug. Gilda decides to steal Doug away and by various underhanded methods, succeeds. Doug and Gilda are trapped in a small town by a blizzard and Doug volunteers to go for help. While he’s gone, Gilda reveals her true selfish nature, hoarding food and refusing to help others. Doug sees this when he returns, and decides the good-hearted Laura is the one for him.
