Ann's father Jim’s small pharmacy is outsold by Hinckly, who sells “borderline” drugs. When Jim falls ill, Ann takes over the store with aid of temporary pharmacist Barry. Barry and Ann fall in love, but he protests her plan to produce numerous worthless remedies to compete with Hinckly. Ann lies to Barry, claiming she’ll cancel her scheme, but doesn't. All is exposed when federal agents levy a huge fine on the pharmacy. The townspeople chip in to pay Jim’s fine. Barry agrees to stay, and Ann hopes she can regain his trust and love.
