On her way back to the hospital to go on night duty, Alison encounters a young girl just as she collapses in a diabetic coma. When she wakes up, she tries to hide her identity, but eventually her name is discovered and her parents are contacted. The girl's father is obsessed with business matters and his wife is seeing another man. Neither seems to have much time for their daughter. Alison comes up with a scheme to force the girl's mother to realize her lover is only after her money in the hopes that the parents will get back together for the girl's sake.
