Gaby's great-aunt Maidie had been something of a legend, striking it rich during the gold rush and she virtually owned Golden City. But Gaby arrives there to find a ghost town and learns Maidie had died about fifty years earlier. But her will left all her worldly goods to whichever relative thought enough of her to look her up.
