Patty moves from Illinois to San Diego to be near her sailor boyfriend Ed. When Patty arrives, his ship is not there: she can’t find a job or a place to stay, and everyone advises her to go home. Steve hires her as a cigarette girl in his Tijuana nightclub. Patty decides to quit when Steve makes a pass at her, but Ed is tipped off to her new job and breaks up with her. Patty can’t leave Mexico because Steve was murdered the night before. Ed gives Patty an alibi and she is free to go. Ed and Patty reconcile.
