Walt left a note: he's quit as Sheriff rather than face the Larango Gang. Wayne meets him at Tumble Rocks, their stomping grounds as kids. Walt, a sham sheriff, can't face the gang. Wayne, the real fighter who masquerades as a storekeeper, goes for the gang - without guns. As he's caught, Walt rides to the rescue. In a rough-and-tumble shootout, they beat the gang down.
