Polly Morfus, on the cusp of adulthood like Alice in Wonderland, finds herself in a corridor with a \"zillion\" doors. A computer (her subconscious) explains she must explore the 37 human instincts and all the doors (leading to different scenarios) to find \"the righteous high\", or true happiness. Polly journeys through communes, relationships, cults, family time, and more, but everyone wants to control her thinking. Finally she finds some free-thinking companions who set out to make their own utopia. \"End of Book One\"
