Hugh Starke is fleeing the authorities on Venus when his ship crashes. He awakens in the body of a warrior named Conan, placed there by the sorceress Rann to assist her. Hugh refuses to help Rann but unwittingly leads Rann's enemy Beudag into her clutches.
